TheTurtleTimes : Upcoming Patches
Author : admin Posted : August 21 2008 23:55:05

Rappelz Epic5 Part2 has already hit the Korean test server with a splash and is coming our way in a few months time, unlike the International Staff the koreans love to make big banner ad’s telling future events and features… let me use my limited survival Korean to translate shall we?

First up, the offical release banner.

http://rappelz.nflavor.com/news/event2008/0728/event.html

New Cash Shop Mount called the Qilin. (that’s the funky looking horse/unicorn/thing)
Client and Server Stability Fixes (again since it isn’t as simple as “Can I have some food”, not sure.)
Two new high level dungeons. - One looks like a copy of ToA
One of those dungeons will be a Themed Dungeon  - Funky Looking Bears that have been in the game for some time but never used, I have a rough idea the dungeon will be a quest dungeon,  kill all the bears and then the boss to get a reward or something,  and it may even start to have a plot somewhere in there.
A new grinding zone (again for the high levels)
Level Cap is now 170
Character skill changes (not sure about this one but hopefully a rebalance is in order)
Some more decoration pets.
R6 Weapons and Armor.

Now if only they implement team duels I will be happy ;)

TheTurtleTimes : It’s a free game, they don’t need to provide service… right?
Author : admin Posted : August 22 2008 00:04:36

Wrong.

Gpotato gets ALOT of money from the cash shop, in fact alot of cash shop mmo’s get more money than subscription based mmo’s, just because the cost of one cash shop item generally costs more than the subscription for one month. People who use the “Free game” excuse need to realise that they are still a business and should provide as much support as they can, at the moment it seems like there is a GM shortage, don’t know why but alot of GM’s keep on quitting a few months after they join, and thats why I would like to have the VGG’s back.

Gpotato generally has good out-of-game support, in terms of emails, however in-game is lacking quite alot. Also having a chat room that you could chat to a GM wouldn’t go to harm either. Interesting to note how much GM got online for the Epic5 test server… but neglected the live servers? GM support is really important in a game it gets up the morale to know that a GM will help if you get glitched somewhere or if a hacker scammer bot, whatever turns up on the servers doorstep, that it will be quickly be banned… So come on Gpotato steal some FlyFF GM’s or something, we need you in-game.

TheTurtleTimes : Plot, where art thou.
Author : admin Posted : August 22 2008 22:59:33

Rappelz is a good game with decent graphics, a decent pet and player system and not too many bugs… but one of the biggest problem Rappelz faces is the lack of a plot. At the moment the plot goes as follows.

http://rappelz.gpotato.com/gameguide/scenario.php

Interesting plot… yet nothing in Rappelz to say anything ever happened, well apart from a few quests that mention it in passing, or the many dinosaur and remains of old cities in Katan… Personally I think Rappelz would benefit from a few event’s, hunt the witch’s followers, defend the city, etc etc but sadly since Rappelz is a Korean game, and Koreans generally love a game with grind.. that could take ages to get. And GM’s are currently restricted to their limited powers to try and make the plot come to life.

A plot would destory the grindfest that is Rappelz, if there was a different event, an event that allowed two fractions to fight against each other, the good guys having one island, the bad guys having another and you fight over land… That would make Rappelz one of the best MMO’s ever.

But we can only hope

TheTurtleTimes : PK’ing ethic
Author : admin Posted : August 23 2008 22:32:41

In a previous post I talked about how pk’ing is part of the game and how people should stop making posts about how the developers should remove it. However that doesn’t mean that people who PK should be complete tossers when they do it.

Simple things like saying nice fight, instead of going LOL!11NOBFAGpwnT! do go a long way, another thing that ethical pk’ers should do is not pk people at a disadvantage, for example if someone is soloing a dungeon boss, or has a train of mobs on them. Sure flagging up and pking them loses them exp but it also makes you look weak for having to use the mobs as well. PKing people while on stamina savers is also a thing ethical pk’ers should try and stay away from, while alot of people think it is illegal for someone to pk them while on stamina saver the fact of the matter is that it isn’t, it just makes the PK’er look bad once again, and wastes someones money in real life. PK’ing people who are ten levels below you also isn’t that ethical… however if you are that weak you have to PK people ten levels below you, have fun :p

So to all you pk’ers out there, keep it clean.. and don’t go near the Salamanders where I grind every now and then :)

TheTurtleTimes : Ask the Developers!!!
Author : admin Posted : August 23 2008 22:51:17

Finally! We can get direct answers from some of the Rappelz developers :D

The quote

Here’s your chance to ask the Devs (Nflavor) those questions you have always wanted answered!

Post any questions/suggestions that you might have for the Devs in this thread and we will try to pass them on to the Devs and get you the answers.

Examples of a good questions:

Consumables are now dropping less, however is it intended that the MP scrolls also drop less? If yes, what was the reasoning for this?

What’s the reasoning behind the 12-24 hour cool down skills? Will these ever be reduced?

Please keep the thread civil and flame-free.

The Forum link

The Rappelz community has alot of interesting questions there, can’t wait to see the result to some of those questions.

For Skills: http://rappelz-wiki.gpotato.com/index.php/Pets

For Stats: Coming as soon as I possibly can. (i’ll hop on the test server and have a little look)

Rinoa's Blog : [Info] About Rappelz Hack Prevention System
Author : RinoaTheMaster Posted : August 30 2008 00:16:16

The current rappelz hack prevention system is called HackShield, it will later be changed to nProtect for reasons unknown. The current hack prevention system disallows all automated keystrokes and mouse movements made by programs instead of hardware. Unfortunately for hackshield its easy for a user to bypass this, unfortunately for me (since I remote connect my pc all the time) I cannot use a remote connection program since it will simulate software keystrokes and mouse movement.

Hopefully nProtect will nullify this :D.

As for some hacks that are known

- bots (i recommend to not use any bots as you will be banned :p)
- hackshield bypass (this bypasses hackshield protection to allow a naked Rappelz Client to run, good for modifying values)
- cheat loaders and trainers (these are programs that change the values of a game, for rappelz it can change exp and jp values as well as alter some stats that are only client side)

Many values are located server side (such as the character stats and exp/jp gained) some are stored on the client (such as option values etc).

TheTurtleTimes : Technical Support Help
Author : admin Posted : September 02 2008 11:10:46

Lets face it, Rappelz isn’t known for it’s Technical Support section.

So I took it under my hands to make a collection of problems and solutions in a easy to read format. Hopefully the FAQ should be easy to work through and easy to use.
